Frequently Asked QuestionsI offer an initial free half hour assessment session. This appointment allows us to meet, for you to ask any questions and for me to explain how I work and the counselling process. This will give us the opportunity to decide whether counselling is the right solution to your needs. The cost of the counselling is £35.00 per session. The client would be expected to pay for any booked appointments that are either forgotten or cancelled at short notice (less than 24 hours). Sessions last for 50 minutes, and it is usual to meet weekly for subsequent sessions. Although this can vary on circumstances. As for the number of sessions, I offer open ended counselling and we would review regularly our work together. It is essential for counselling to be effective that the client attends regularly, and turns up on time. For counselling to be effective it is necessary that the client trusts the counsellor, and to know that what they are told is kept confidential. As a member of the BACP I abide by their "Ethical Principles" and part of those states that there are limits to the level of confidentiality a counsellor can agree to. It is considered necessary to inform third parties when it is considered that the someone is at risk, either to themselves or to others. If it was necessary to break confidentiality the counsellor would inform the client of the need and would explain to whom they would be disclosing information to and why. |
