Frequently Asked Questions
The first session is an assessment session, usually lasting 1-1.5 hours and this costs £60.00 .
This session allows us to meet, for you to ask any questions, for me to explain how I work and to explain how counselling/hypnotherapy process works. This will give us the opportunity to decide whether counselling or hypnotherapy is the right solution to your needs.
The cost of the counselling is £40.00 per session. The cost of Hypnotherapy session is £40.00 per session.
The client would be expected to pay for any booked appointments that are either forgotten or cancelled at short notice (less than 24 hours).
For Counselling sessions these last for 50 minutes, and it is usual to meet weekly for subsequent sessions. Although this can vary on circumstances.
As for the number of sessions, I offer open ended counselling and we would review regularly our work together.
It is essential for counselling to be effective that the client attends regularly, and turns up on time.
For Hypnotherapy the sessions usually last an hour and occasionally longer and at the initial assessment I would have given you an outline of the number of sessions and what to expect. There is also likely to be an element of the client doing practice at home for some therapeutic interventions.
For therapy to be effective it is necessary that the client trusts the counsellor, and to know that what they are told is kept confidential.
As a member of the BACP I abide by their "Ethical Principles" and part of those states that there are limits to the level of confidentiality a counsellor can agree to. It is considered necessary to inform third parties when it is considered that the someone is at risk, either to themselves or to others. If it was necessary to break confidentiality the counsellor would inform the client of the need and would explain to whom they would be disclosing information to and why.
